Astro Car Rally: Sprint to Stars Concludes Successfully in Leh Ladakh

The second edition of the Astro Car Rally, called 'Sprint to Stars,' concluded its journey across the picturesque landscapes of Leh Ladakh. Held from June 21st to June 29th, this event combined off-roading thrills with astronomical awareness, covering key stargazing locations and promoting dark sky preservation.

The second edition of the Astro Car Rally, aptly named 'Sprint to Stars,' concluded its exhilarating journey across the breathtaking terrains of Leh Ladakh on July 11. Spanning from June 21 to June 29, participants navigated a challenging circuit starting from Delhi and passing through Manali, Sissu, Leh, Hanle, Pangong, and Nubra Valley before returning to Leh.

This year's rally aimed to raise awareness about astronomy while identifying prime stargazing locations. Combining the thrill of off-roading with the serene beauty of the night sky, the event offered an unforgettable experience for all involved. Kicking off in Delhi, participants embarked on an adventurous journey, initially reaching Manali, renowned for its stunning landscapes and adventurous trails. The convoy then moved to Sissu, a picturesque village in Lahaul Valley, blending natural beauty with challenging off-road tracks. The drive from Sissu to Leh was extraordinary, with participants navigating the rugged Himalayas.

Leh served as a significant pit stop, offering a mix of culture and natural beauty, before the journey continued to Hanle. Known for its clear skies, Hanle provided participants the chance to observe the night sky at the Indian Astronomical Observatory. The rally emphasized astronomy, with experts sharing knowledge about celestial bodies and dark sky preservation. After Hanle, the convoy moved to Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley, famous for serene views and unique landscapes, before concluding the thrilling adventure in Leh.
