In a bid to enforce coach reservation rules, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has cracked down on over 1,900 male passengers for entering women-only coaches, official data reveals.

The penalty for violating this rule is Rs 250, according to DMRC officials. Between January and June, 1,906 male passengers were penalized, with the highest number of 443 violations occurring in May.

DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal emphasized ongoing efforts to raise awareness, including in-train announcements and social media campaigns. The first coach of every Delhi Metro train is reserved for women, and signages indicate where these coaches stop. Special drives with quick reaction teams are also in place to catch violators.
