Piyush Goyal Highlights Record Job Creation Under Modi Government

Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the significant job creation under the Modi government, citing RBI KLEMS data that reported 4.6 crore new jobs in FY 2023-2024. Goyal contrasted this with the UPA's record, and highlighted the role of government initiatives and policies in boosting employment opportunities across multiple sectors.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday highlighted the significant success of job creation under the current administration. Speaking in the context of the RBI KLEMS Data, Goyal noted that nearly 4.6 crore new jobs were generated in the financial year 2023-2024.

'Yesterday, the report released by the Reserve Bank of India on employment generation in India reflects how, under PM Narendra Modi's leadership, the nation swiftly created new jobs and opportunities,' said Goyal. 'This marks a notable increase of around 6%, with 4.60 crore people receiving employment last year.'

Goyal contrasted this with the previous UPA regime, noting that only 2.90 crore jobs were created from 2004-2014. 'Under the BJP, 12.5 crore jobs were generated between 2014-2023, making India one of the world's best job-creating nations,' added BJP Spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam.

The PLFS and RBI's KLEMS data revealed that over 8 crore employment opportunities were generated between 2017-18 and 2021-22, despite the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This contradicts Citigroup's claims that India's employment generation is inadequate.

EPFO data further emphasizes the progress, with more than 1.3 crore people joining the workforce in the current financial year, significantly higher than previous years. This positive trend is backed by an increase in key labor market indicators and burgeoning opportunities in various sectors, including the gig economy and GCCs.
