Kerala has once again emerged as the frontrunner in the NITI Aayog's latest Sustainable Development Index, achieving a notable score of 79. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasized that this accomplishment underscores the Left Democratic Front government's unwavering commitment to social progress and welfare.

Expressing his elation on social media platform X, Vijayan noted, 'Kerala tops India once again! With a score of 79 in NITI Aayog's latest Sustainable Development Index, Kerala remains first. This recognition reflects the Left Democratic Front government's commitment to social progress and welfare.' The fourth edition of the SDG India Index was unveiled on Friday by NITI Aayog.

The scores for states in the SDG India Index 2023-24 range from 57 to 79, while for Union Territories they vary between 65 and 77. This is an improvement over the 2020-21 scores. Kerala and Uttarakhand lead with scores of 79, while Chandigarh dominates among UTs with 77. Tamil Nadu, Goa, and Himachal Pradesh are also among the top performers. The Index tracks 113 indicators aligned with the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation's National Indicator Framework.
