Nazara Technologies' Subsidiaries Hit with Massive GST Show Cause Notices

Nazara Technologies announced that its subsidiaries, Openplay and Halaplay Technologies, received show cause notices from GST authorities amounting to Rs 1,120 crore. These claims are for the financial years 2017-18 to 2022-23 and relate to the calculation of GST based on player pools rather than gross gaming revenues.

Nazara Technologies disclosed on Wednesday that two of its subsidiaries have been issued show cause notices for GST liabilities totaling nearly Rs 1,120 crore.

Openplay Technologies received a notice proposing a liability of Rs 845.72 crore from the Director General of GST Intelligence, Kolkata, while Halaplay Technologies' liability stands at Rs 274.21 crore.

The claims cover the period from 2017-18 to 2022-23. Both subsidiaries are consulting with legal and tax experts to decide their next steps, as revealed in a BSE filing by Nazara.
