Air India on Friday conducted a ferry flight to transport passengers stranded at Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Russia since Thursday after their flight was diverted due to a potential cargo hold issue.

The airline's Boeing 777, carrying 225 passengers and 19 crew members, made an emergency landing at the Russian airport. Air India stated that its ferry flight AI1179 from Mumbai to Krasnoyarsk was airborne and expected to arrive by 2000 hours local time on July 19.

A team, including crew and security personnel, was onboard the ferry flight, which carried sufficient food and essentials for all passengers. Regulatory clearances were obtained, and a dedicated hotline has been established for information. Additionally, representatives from the Indian consulate in Moscow are working with Russian authorities to support passengers.
