Poland Expedites F-16 Jet Deliveries to Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that Poland has made a decision accelerating the delivery of F-16 jets to Ukraine. While Poland's commitment specifics remain unclear, Zelenskiy's statement underscores the urgency for Ukraine's air defense amid ongoing Russian airstrikes. The country eagerly awaits the first jets from Denmark and Netherlands.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Friday that Poland has taken a decision accelerating the delivery of much-needed F-16 jets to Ukraine, though he did not specify the details.
Poland, which shares a border with Ukraine and has been a steadfast ally during the war, is not among the nations that have pledged to provide these jets. The Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's office has yet to comment on Zelenskiy's statement. 'Today, we have a positive decision from the Polish government on a specific issue, which will allow Ukraine to receive F-16 jets sooner,' Zelenskiy stated on X, without further elaboration.
Kyiv is eagerly awaiting its first F-16s to bolster its air defense capabilities and counter regular long-range Russian airstrikes. Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken mentioned that the initial jets from Denmark and the Netherlands are already on their way to Ukraine.
