Bihar's Development Boost in Union Budget

The Janata Dal (United) has praised the Union Budget's focus on Bihar, highlighting significant financial allocations for highways, flood mitigation, and infrastructure development, including new bridges, an airport, a medical college, and tourist sites. These measures aim to enhance the state's self-reliance.

The Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday expressed approval for a series of Bihar-centric initiatives included in the Union Budget, suggesting that these developmental steps will significantly contribute to the state's self-reliance.

Party spokesperson K C Tyagi commended the 'special financial assistance' allocated for Bihar, citing budgetary allotments exceeding Rs 26,000 crore for highway construction and Rs 11,500 crore dedicated to flood mitigation efforts.

Among the key announcements were the construction of two new bridges over the Ganga river, a new airport, and a medical college. Additionally, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman outlined plans for the development of Nalanda University and various tourist attractions, including the Nalanda-Rajgir corridor. The budget also includes provisions for three new expressways and emphasizes improving sports infrastructure and expediting a multi-lateral loan request by the Bihar government.
