Rural Development Ministry Secures 12% Budget Increase for 2024-25

The Rural Development Ministry received a budget of Rs 1,77,566.19 crore for 2024-25, an increase from the previous year's Rs 1,57,545 crore. The budget includes substantial allocations for MGNREGS, PMAY-G, PMGSY, and National Livelihood Mission-Ajeevika, aiming to boost rural employment, housing, infrastructure, and livelihood opportunities.

In the 2024-25 Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the Rural Development Ministry has been allocated Rs 1,77,566.19 crore, marking a 12% increase from the previous year's outlay of Rs 1,57,545 crore.

Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised the budget, stating it would further the development of rural sectors. Among the key allocations, MGNREGS received Rs 86,000 crore, a 43% increase from the last year's Rs 60,000 crore. Also, Rs 54,500.14 crore has been allocated for the PMAY-G to construct two crore houses, and Rs 12,000 crore for Phase-four of the PMGSY to provide all-weather connectivity to 25,000 rural habitations.

Additionally, the budget designates Rs 15,047 crore for the National Livelihood Mission-Ajeevika, in an effort to empower women and rural youth. Furthermore, the PM Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan scheme will target five crore tribal people to improve their socio-economic conditions.
