Delhi Finance Minister Atishi has sharply criticized the Union Budget, claiming it 'betrayed' the people of the national capital. Despite contributing over Rs 2 lakh crore in taxes to the Centre, the city received no allocation in return.
Atishi asserted that Delhi had requested funds for both the city government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), but these requests were ignored. She described the budget as a 'betrayal' that dashes the hopes and aspirations of Delhi's residents.
The minister further highlighted that Delhi, as a significant income tax contributor, was excluded from the budget's central tax share, marking it as a continued neglect by the BJP-led Centre, despite the city's financial contributions.
