DMRC Cracks Down on Metro Nuisance: Over 1,600 Penalties Issued

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) booked more than 1,600 individuals for creating nuisance, including making reels, from April to June, marking a three percent rise from the same period last year. Offences include sitting on the floor and eating inside trains. The DMRC continues various measures to discourage such behavior.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued penalties to over 1,600 individuals for creating nuisance on metro premises between April and June, officials reported on Thursday. This marks a three percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Offences included making reels, sitting on the train floor, and eating on metro premises. In total, 1,647 penalties were recorded under Section 59 of the Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, with specific data on reels-related offences unavailable.

'We continually penalise individuals to discourage such behavior,' stated DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar. However, he noted the challenge of monitoring 67 lakh daily passengers. The DMRC uses CCTV surveillance and posters to deter nuisance behavior and occasionally deploys mobile checking squads for added enforcement.
