India Railways Set for Major Overhaul with TMH Partnership

India's railway network, the fourth largest in the world, is undergoing significant transformation with Russia's TMH. This partnership focuses on modernizing Vande Bharat electric trains, enhancing passenger comfort, and supporting India's Viksit Bharat @2047 vision through local job creation and technological advancements.

India's extensive railway network, the world's fourth largest, is set for a major transformation, thanks to a partnership with Russia's engineering powerhouse TMH. With passenger numbers soaring to 6.23 billion in FY 2022-2023, up from 3.44 billion the previous year, modernization is more critical than ever.

TMH secured a USD 6.5 billion international tender in March 2023, outshining global competitors to design, produce, and maintain 120 Vande Bharat electric trains over 35 years. The company has already taken significant steps by establishing a state-of-the-art assembly line in Latur and unveiling an engineering center in Hyderabad.

The Vande Bharat trains, boasting features like regenerative braking and on-board diagnostic systems, are set to revolutionize long-distance travel. This initiative aligns with India's Viksit Bharat @2047 vision, aiming to elevate the nation's railway system to new heights by its centenary of independence.
