The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and Câmara de Comércio de Sotavento have unveiled a strategic partnership to host the 2024 Trade and Business Roadshow in Praia, Cape Verde, scheduled for July 29-30, 2024. This significant event, themed "Catalysing Local Manufacturing and Export Growth under the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA)," aims to diversify Cape Verde's economy, support intra-African trade, attract foreign investments, and build sustainable partnerships.

The Roadshow will focus on identifying and promoting viable transactions across multiple sectors beyond tourism. By showcasing opportunities under the AfCFTA, the initiative seeks to bolster local manufacturing and export growth, contributing to Cape Verde's economic expansion.

Mr. Eric Monchu Intong, Regional Chief Operating Officer for Anglophone West Africa at Afreximbank, highlighted the strategic nature of the partnership. "Afreximbank's collaboration with Câmara de Comércio de Sotavento is a testament to our long-standing relationship with the Government of Cabo Verde. This Roadshow will support various economic sectors through our innovative financing solutions, driving Africa's share of global trade."

Mr. Intong expressed enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its potential to foster alliances and advance sustainable growth. "We are excited to enhance partnerships that will drive our collective future. Our multisectoral approach is crucial as no single organization or sector alone can achieve the level of growth needed for the continent," he added.

Mr. Marcos Rodrigues, President of Câmara de Comércio de Sotavento, echoed this sentiment. "Our collaboration with Afreximbank underscores our commitment to sustainable development. Together, we are creating new pathways for economic empowerment in Cabo Verde and beyond," he stated.

Afreximbank has been instrumental in driving key economic initiatives across Africa. Notable projects include the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2023), which facilitated deals and transactions valued at US$43.8 billion, and the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE), a 500-bed hospital under construction in Abuja, Nigeria. Other significant initiatives include the AfCFTA Adjustment Fund, the Afreximbank Africa Collaborative Transit Guarantee Scheme, and the Afreximbank Africa Trade Centre.

The 2024 Trade and Business Roadshow in Cape Verde represents a crucial step towards achieving broader economic goals and fostering growth across various sectors.
