The G20 Labour and Employment Ministers meeting in Fortaleza, Brazil, culminated in the approval of a significant ministerial declaration on July 26. The declaration, which was finalized after a two-day session under Brazil's presidency, was approved by delegations, including India led by Shobha Karandlaje, India's Minister of State for Labour & Employment.
In an intricate discussion, the ministers emphasized ‘Just Transition,’ quality job creation, decent work, and social inclusion, focusing on eliminating poverty and hunger, promoting gender equality and diversity, and leveraging technology to enhance life quality. They also highlighted the necessity for active inclusion policies to ensure sustainable economic growth.
The declaration calls for effective labour market policies, skills development, lifelong learning, job matching, and formalizing jobs, along with addressing platform work and promoting adequate wage floors.
