Byju Raveendran's Legal Challenge Against Think & Learn Insolvency

Byju's Founder Byju Raveendran's plea against the insolvency of Think & Learn before the NCLAT was adjourned on Monday due to a bench member's recusal.

The case will be reassigned by NCLAT Chairman Justice Ashok Bhushan to a different bench.

Raveendran, contesting the initiation of insolvency proceedings against his edtech firm Byju's by BCCI, faced adjournment when Justice Sharad Kumar Sharma recused himself, citing a prior association with BCCI.

Justice Sharma stated, ''I have appeared as a senior counsel for BCCI. Since they are the main beneficiaries of this order, I cannot take this up.''

The insolvency proceedings followed BCCI's plea to NCLT over a Rs 158.9 crore default. NCLT then suspended Think & Learn's board and appointed an interim resolution professional.

Raveendran has also approached the Karnataka High Court, which deferred his plea to July 30.
