Interns will be placed in various departments including sales, marketing, and customer care.
Travel booking platform EaseMyTrip announced plans to recruit over 500 interns across India within the next 3-6 months. This move aligns with the government's recently announced internship scheme, introduced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget for 2024-25.
The internships, which are paid, will span various departments, notably sales, marketing, and back-end customer care, according to CEO Nishant Pitti. This initiative aims to provide job opportunities for the youth, a key aspect of the government's plan to offer internships in 500 top companies to 1 crore youth over five years.
Pitti highlighted that the firm will provide an internship allowance of Rs 5,000 per month, alongside a one-time assistance of Rs 6,000. Companies will handle intern training costs via corporate social responsibility funds. The new scheme simplifies recruitment and makes it financially viable for the company, he added. During the internship period, the growing company has room to absorb the interns into different departments, post-completion. Currently, EaseMyTrip employs around 900 people and is one of the three profitable B2C e-commerce firms.
