Minister Goyal Criticizes India Inc for Ignoring National Interest

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday called out India Inc for placing minor gains over national interest by neglecting to purchase made in India products.

He expressed regret that many industries prefer imports, harming India's foreign exchange reserves. Highlighting the irony, Goyal pointed out that domestic players seek duty concessions in free trade agreements (FTAs) but refuse to offer market access to other countries.

Speaking at CII's Viksit Bharat programme, he urged the industry to rethink their strategies and contribute positively, noting their low participation in the Steering Committee on Advancing Local value-add and Exports (SCALE) meetings.
