India Elected Vice-Chair of Supply Chain Council in IPEF Initiative
India has been elected as vice-chair of the Supply Chain Council under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), comprising 14 member nations. The agreement, effective since February, aims to enhance supply chain resilience, mitigate economic risks, and reduce dependence on China. The inaugural virtual meetings established work priorities for improving supply chain resilience, crisis response, and labor rights.
India has been elected as vice-chair of the Supply Chain Council under the 14-member Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), the commerce ministry announced on Wednesday.
The arrangement, operational since February, aims to enhance supply chain resilience, mitigate economic risks, and lessen reliance on China. Initial virtual meetings set work priorities for fortifying supply chains, crisis response, and labor rights among member nations.
The Supply Chain Council, Crisis Response Network, and Labor Rights Advisory Board collectively focus on national security, public health, and economic stability. The council's first in-person meeting is scheduled for September 2024 in Washington.
