Heavy Rains Disrupt Flights at Delhi Airport
Heavy rains in Delhi caused the diversion of at least 10 flights on Wednesday evening. The adverse weather conditions resulted in waterlogging and traffic congestion. Airlines warned passengers to expect delays and advised checking flight statuses due to possible disruptions.
At least 10 flights scheduled to land at Delhi airport were diverted on Wednesday evening due to heavy rains in the national capital.
An airport official confirmed that the diversions occurred after 7:30 PM owing to the unfavorable weather conditions.
Delhi witnessed heavy rains leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion in various parts of the city.
Several airlines, including Vistara, Air India, SpiceJet, and IndiGo, alerted passengers through social media that flights might face delays due to the weather.
Flight UK998 from Pune to Delhi was diverted to Lucknow, as confirmed by Vistara.
Passengers were advised to start early for the airport to avoid delay due to waterlogged roads and slow traffic, as per Air India.
SpiceJet announced that heavy rain in Delhi may affect all departures, arrivals, and consequential flights.
IndiGo, in a social media post, mentioned expectations of heavy rainfall throughout the night and urged passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
