Wall Street is set for a stronger opening on Thursday, buoyed by better-than-expected jobless claims data that mitigated concerns over an economic slowdown. The latest Labor Department report revealed a lower number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits, totaling 233,000 for the week ending August 3, as opposed to the forecasted 240,000.

This positive news helped steady megacap and growth stocks, which had plunged earlier in the week due to disappointing labor data. "Since the jobs report on Friday, everyone's been nervous about a recession ... The claims came in lower than expected, alleviating some of the fear that the labor market was completely rolling over," said Thomas Hayes, chairman of Great Hill Capital LLC.

As of 8:43 a.m. ET, S&P 500 futures were up 47 points, Nasdaq 100 futures increased by 226 points, and Dow futures rose by 172 points. Despite heightened market volatility, investor sentiment was boosted by the labor data. The CBOE Market Volatility Index also saw an uptick, indicating ongoing market unease. Notable moves include Eli Lilly's 12.7% jump after raising its annual profit forecast, and a 40.6% plummet in Bumble's shares due to revised revenue projections.
