Government e-Marketplace Hits Rs 9.82 Lakh Crore GMV

GeM portal's Gross Merchandise Value surpasses Rs 9.82 lakh crore, demonstrating a 1000-fold growth since its inception. Union Minister Jitin Prasada announced these achievements. The platform recorded significant milestones, including a high number of women-led enterprises and startups contributing to its success.

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal has achieved a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of Rs 9.82 lakh crore as of July 30, showcasing a remarkable 1000-fold growth since its inception. Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, revealed this milestone in a written response to the Rajya Sabha on Friday.

In the Financial Year 2023-24, GeM reported a GMV of over Rs 4 lakh crore, indicating a nearly 1000-fold increase from Rs 422 crore in FY 2016-17. The platform recorded over 62 lakh transactions in FY 2023-24, a similar 1000-fold growth compared to FY 2016-17. Since its establishment, GeM has processed more than 2.26 crore transactions.

The platform has registered over 1.63 lakh women-led Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSEs), which have executed orders worth Rs 35,138 crore. Additionally, more than 25,000 startups are registered on the portal, contributing a GMV exceeding Rs 27,319 crore. The GeM SAHAYAK initiative aims to create a network of certified trainers, known as SAHAYAKs, to offer complete support to sellers and buyers on the platform, providing end-to-end services to guide users.
