The selection process is surrounded by secrecy.
Nearly a dozen candidates were interviewed on Sunday for the position of chairman at Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the nation's largest oil firm, sources revealed.
Despite receiving nearly 60 applications, only 10 candidates were initially invited for interviews. Interestingly, GAIL chairman and managing director Sandeep Gupta, who had not applied, was also interviewed, becoming a wildcard in the process.
Sources indicated that Gupta might be the panel's choice. The search-cum-selection committee, constituted to replace current chairman Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, is carrying out the process in utmost secrecy. Vaidya's extension beyond his retirement age ends on August 31, 2024.
