Bank of Mexico's Diminished Growth Forecasts Amid Inflation
The Bank of Mexico has revised down its economic growth forecasts for 2023 and 2024 due to persistent inflation. The central bank's latest quarterly report indicates a reduced GDP growth prediction from 2.4% to 1.5% for 2024 and from 1.5% to 1.2% for 2023.
The Bank of Mexico has slashed its economic growth forecasts for this year and the next, citing enduring inflation challenges that have led to disagreements within the central bank's board. This information comes from its quarterly report released on Wednesday.
The report reveals a significant downward adjustment in the projected gross domestic product (GDP). For 2024, the bank now anticipates a growth rate of 1.5%, a notable drop from the previous forecast of 2.4%. The expectations for 2023 have also been lowered to 1.2%, down from an earlier prediction of 1.5%.
The revision underscores the central bank's ongoing struggle to balance economic growth with inflation control, reflecting broader economic uncertainties.
