DGCA Fines Air India Express Rs 10 Lakh for Passenger Compensation Lapses
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) fined Air India Express Rs 10 lakh for not compensating passengers for cancelled flights. The penalty followed an inspection under the Annual Surveillance Programme 2024, revealing non-compliance with CAR Section-3, Series M, Part IV provisions.

In a significant move, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh on Air India Express for failing to compensate passengers for cancelled flights.
The DGCA conducted an inspection in June as part of its Annual Surveillance Programme (ASP) 2024, which highlighted several non-compliance issues relating to passenger facilities and compensation requirements against Air India Express.
Following the inspection, a show cause notice was issued to the airline. Upon review, the DGCA found that Air India Express had not adhered to the mandatory provisions of CAR Section-3, Series M, Part IV, resulting in the financial penalty.
