The unemployment rate for individuals aged 15 and above has held steady at 3.2 percent from July 2023 to June 2024, according to the annual labour force survey report released on Monday.

The report highlights a marginal decline for males, from 3.3 percent to 3.2 percent, while the rate for females has seen a rise from 2.9 percent to 3.2 percent during the same timeframe.

Additionally, the Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in usual status for those aged 15 and above increased to 60.1 percent, up from 57.9 percent the previous year. The LFPR for males and females stood at 78.8 percent and 41.7 percent, respectively.

The Worker Population Ratio (WPR) in usual status also showed improvement, rising to 58.2 percent from 56.0 percent. Among females, WPR increased from 35.9 percent to 40.3 percent.

The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), initiated by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) in April 2017, has now released its seventh annual report, focusing on employment and unemployment indicators in both rural and urban areas.
