The United States organized a flight from Beirut to Istanbul on Wednesday, enabling Americans to exit Lebanon amid intensifying conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, according to State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
Miller revealed during a press briefing that roughly 7,000 U.S. citizens in Lebanon had registered with the U.S. government to receive updates about leaving the country. However, he noted that not all of these individuals were seeking assistance.
The Wednesday flight had a capacity of approximately 300 and transported around 100 Americans and their families. Miller added that Washington had been collaborating with airlines since Saturday to secure available seats for Americans on commercial flights.
