Maruti Suzuki India Limited has inked a Memorandum of Agreement with Bihar's Transport Department to automate five driving license test tracks in the state, marking a significant step in advancing road safety through technology. These test tracks will be established in Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Purnia, and Saran.

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Sheela Kumari, Bihar's Transport Minister, and Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Secretary of the Transport Department. Also present were Navin Kumar, the State Transport Commissioner, and Tarun Agarwal from Maruti Suzuki's Corporate Social Responsibility wing, underscoring the collaborative nature of this venture.

This initiative, part of Maruti Suzuki's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, will automate driving license tests for two-wheelers and light motor vehicles, aiming to enhance the accuracy and transparency of evaluations by minimizing human involvement. With these advancements, testing will better align with the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, delivering standardized and automated results.

Transport Minister Sheela Kumari commended Maruti Suzuki's dedication to road safety, emphasizing the importance of skilled drivers in reducing accidents. She noted past successes in Aurangabad and Patna as promising indicators for the upcoming projects. The expansion to five additional tracks signifies a commitment to safer driving in Bihar.

Maruti Suzuki's Rahul Bharti highlighted the company's ongoing partnership with Bihar, recalling the establishment of the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research in Aurangabad in 2018. Bharti expressed gratitude for the trust placed in Maruti Suzuki to promote safer roads through meticulous evaluations and the integration of cutting-edge technology in license testing processes.

This project, alongside other initiatives across several states, demonstrates Maruti Suzuki's focus on the five pillars of road safety, aiming for a future where driving licenses are awarded only to truly qualified individuals. The addition of five new tracks in Bihar aims to increase the total of automated tracks to 44 nationwide, reinforcing the company's commitment to safer roads.
