Surge in Passenger Vehicle Dispatches as Utility Demand Rises

Factory dispatches of passenger vehicles to dealers rose 1.6% in January, reaching 3,99,386 units, supported by strong demand for utility vehicles. Total passenger vehicle wholesales had been 3,93,074 units in the same month last year. Two-wheeler dispatches increased by 2.1%, and three-wheeler dispatches saw a 7.7% rise.

Factory dispatches of passenger vehicles to dealers experienced a 1.6% year-on-year rise in January, registering at 3,99,386 units. This growth was primarily driven by robust demand for utility vehicles, according to data shared by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Thursday.

In comparison, the passenger vehicle wholesales stood at 3,93,074 units in January of the previous year. Meanwhile, the dispatches of two-wheelers also saw an increase, rising by 2.1% to 15,26,218 units last month compared to 14,95,183 units during January 2024, as reported by SIAM.

Additionally, the three-wheeler segment enjoyed a significant growth of 7.7% year-on-year, with dispatches climbing to 58,167 units from 53,991 units in the same period last year, showcasing a positive trend across the automobile sector.
