The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed a hefty Rs 30 lakh fine on Air India Express in December for flying a Boeing aircraft featuring external livery without obtaining necessary permissions, the Parliament was informed on Thursday.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister for State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, noted that the DGCA actively oversees aviation safety regulation violations, responding with requisite severity based on the infraction level. Regular audits ensure airlines remain compliant under the Annual Surveillance Programme.
Statistics revealed in the reply indicated that 23 enforcement actions were initiated by the DGCA's subdivisions in 2024 alone. These actions targeted multiple airlines, including Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo, for varied breaches, reinforcing DGCA's strict regulatory oversight.
