India Set to Lead in Drone Technology With MBC-II Triumph

The Indian Air Force's Mehar Baba Competition-II has successfully concluded, marking a major milestone in UAV innovation. Pune-based Ayaan Autonomous Systems won, showcasing India's move toward indigenous drone autonomy and signaling advancements in national defence technology.

In a significant development for India's UAV sector, the Indian Air Force has announced the successful completion of the Mehar Baba Competition-II, which aimed to advance unmanned aerial vehicle technology in India. Pune-based Ayaan Autonomous Systems emerged victorious, highlighting a pivotal moment in the country's drone autonomy aspirations.

Initiated on April 6, 2022, the competition revolved around a 'Swarm Drone-Based System to Detect Foreign Objects on Aircraft Operating Surfaces.' With a sanctioned budget of INR 300Cr for capital UAV procurement, it began with 129 applicants and culminated with Ayaan leading, thanks to its innovative and operational prowess.

The competition bolstered the fusion of Indian industry, academia, and defence, pitching the country towards becoming a global drone hub by 2030. Ayaan Autonomous Systems' win is a testament to its dedication to indigenous UAV solutions, advancing India's technological self-reliance and promising potential for future defence innovations.
