Odisha's Ambitious Budget Boosts Agriculture with Major Investments

In a notable economic move, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled a Rs 2.90-lakh crore state budget for the financial year 2025-26, emphasizing agriculture and irrigation.
Highlighting that nearly half the state's workforce is involved in agriculture, Majhi set aside Rs 37,838 crore for the sector, marking a nearly 12% increase in allocation adjusted for pivotal schemes like 'CM Kisan Yojana' and 'Shree Anna Abhiyan'.
This marks the state's first complete budget under BJP after assuming power last year, following an interim budget in July 2024. Additionally, Majhi proposed Rs 164 crore for enhancing irrigation and dairy farming under the 'Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana'.
