RBI Reports Strong Sales Growth for Private Companies in Q3
Sales of listed private non-financial firms rose 8% in Q3 2024-25, up from 5.5% the previous year, boosted by strong performance in manufacturing and IT. Expenses for raw materials and staff increased, while operating profit margins saw a 50 basis point improvement.

Sales among listed private non-financial companies surged by 8% in the third quarter of 2024-25, according to data from the Reserve Bank. This marks an increase from the 5.5% growth seen in the same period last year.
Driving this growth, manufacturing companies saw a 7.7% increase, particularly in automobiles, chemicals, and food products, with IT firms also posting a 6.8% rise in sales year-on-year. However, sectors like petroleum, iron and steel, and cement struggled, facing contractions.
Meanwhile, expenses on raw materials for manufacturing firms increased by 6.3%, and staff costs rose 9.5%. The operating profit margin improved by 50 basis points to reach 16.2%, reflecting broad-based gains.
