India is actively shaping its global trade strategy through the signing of numerous free trade agreements (FTAs) and preferential trade pacts. These agreements aim to enhance India's export capabilities and open new market avenues for its domestic industries.
Recently, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and the UK's Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds, announced the resumption of negotiations for a proposed FTA between India and the UK. Set to deepen economic ties, the talks aim to eliminate trade barriers and reduce tariffs, thereby fostering mutual economic growth.
While India looks to achieve improved market access for its students and professionals, the UK seeks significant tariff reductions on key goods. The India-UK FTA is expected to strengthen bilateral trade relations, enhance investment flows, and create new opportunities in sectors such as technology and education.
