Security Lapses Highlighted in Swargate Bus Depot Incident

Maharashtra's Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, has pointed the finger at lax security measures at the Swargate MSRTC bus depot after a 26-year-old woman was raped there recently. The alleged perpetrator, identified as history-sheeter Dattatray Ramdas Gade, remains at large, though police have formed multiple teams to apprehend him.

Kadam criticized the private security service tasked with guarding the depot, arguing that more vigilance from the depot manager could have prevented this tragic incident. He dismissed any notion that police bear no responsibility, highlighting that police patrols were conducted on the night of the crime.

Kadam stressed the importance of comprehensive security measures at the depot and discussed with the State Transport Minister possible deployment of police marshals at sensitive locations. These remarks came during Kadam's visit to the site, accompanied by senior police officials, to assess the security framework and propose measures to ensure commuter safety.
