Bihar's economy has witnessed a dramatic expansion over the past decade, with its value multiplying from Rs 2.47 lakh crore in 2011-12 to Rs 8.54 lakh crore by 2023-24, according to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
Choudhary, overseeing the Finance portfolio, presented the Bihar Economic Survey for 2024-25 in the state legislature, highlighting key fiscal metrics and sectoral growth patterns. The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth was primarily driven by a surge in tax revenues.
Bihar distinguished itself in the transport and communication sector, achieving a 7.6 percent growth, trailing only Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. Significant contributions were also noted from forestry and logging activities, underlining a diversified economic advancement for the state.
