NABARD Unveils Ambitious Rs 2.79 Lakh Crore Credit Plan for Punjab's Priority Sectors

In a significant financial move, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has estimated a credit potential of Rs 2.79 lakh crore towards Priority Sector Lending in Punjab. This allocation is part of a newly launched state-focused paper for 2025-26, unveiled during a State Credit Seminar chaired by Raghunath B, NABARD's Chief General Manager for Punjab.

The seminar, which saw participation from key figures like RBI's General Manager Varsha Vajpayee and General Manager of NABARD Haryana K S Maya Devi, highlighted the allocation of Rs 1.20 lakh crore specifically for the agriculture sector. The focus is on bolstering areas such as MSMEs, education, export, housing, and renewable energy.

Raghunath B detailed the comprehensive process of crafting the Potential Linked Credit Plan at both district and state levels. Contributions by Varsha Vajpayee emphasized sustainable agricultural development and financial literacy, while R.K. Meena from SLBC discussed integrating NABARD's potential into the State Level Bankers' Committee's Annual Credit Plan.
