The Indian government plans to establish a special purpose vehicle (SPV) dedicated to manufacturing regional transport aircraft, according to Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu. He assured that policies necessary for India to produce planes and components are underway.

While answering questions in the Rajya Sabha, Naidu detailed government efforts to enhance aircraft component manufacturing and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) activities, including implementing a uniform Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) rate.

Recognized as one of the world's rapidly expanding civil aviation markets, India's airlines have ordered more than 1,500 planes to accommodate the surge in air traffic demand. To capitalize on this growth, Naidu outlined a strategic plan: "We have redefined our approach towards aircraft manufacturing, aiming for India to design, manufacture, and maintain aircraft."
