Empowering Jammu & Kashmir's Youth: A New Era of Employment Initiatives

As of January 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir government has announced that more than 3.70 lakh unemployed youth have signed up on the official employment portal. Among them are 1.13 lakh graduates and post-graduates, highlighting a significant portion of educated individuals seeking job opportunities in the Union Territory (UT).
Responding to a query in the Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary revealed ongoing government initiatives to boost employment through various schemes under Mission Youth. These include the Mumkin Scheme for transport sector jobs, the Tejaswini Scheme to empower women, and the Parvaaz Scheme offering competitive examination opportunities.
Government efforts have led to over 246 job fairs, numerous skill development programs, and the establishment of district-level facilitation centers. With an ambitious goal to create 1,37,000 new enterprises and generate 4,25,000 jobs within five years, the administration is aiming for a significant impact on the youth employment landscape.
