The container ship Solong, recently involved in a collision off the East Yorkshire coast, stirred concerns regarding its cargo. However, the ship's owners, Ernst Russ, have officially confirmed that there is no sodium cyanide on board.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Ernst Russ assured the public and relevant authorities that the vessel lacks containers laden with the toxic chemical, easing fears of potential environmental hazards. Instead, they acknowledged four empty containers which had once carried sodium cyanide and emphasized that these are being diligently monitored.

This development follows heightened vigilance around maritime shipments of hazardous materials, emphasizing the importance of transparency and safety in maritime operations.
