Reliance Jio Dominates Telecom Growth with 74% Market Share in March 2025

In a significant leap for the telecom sector, Reliance Jio has emerged as the frontrunner by adding 2.17 million new subscribers in March 2025. This exceptional growth contributes to the total 2.93 million new subscribers added across the industry in the same period, positioning Jio as the leader with over 74% market share in new additions.

Jio's expansion spans various categories, including VLR subscribers, wireless, wireline, and its flagship 5G AirFiber service, where it nearly doubled Airtel's numbers. Notably, Jio captured over 86% of Visitor Location Register subscriber additions, and maintained an impressive 82% market share in the rapidly expanding 5G Fixed Wireless Access sector, boasting 5.57 million subscribers.

A report by Ookla, a network intelligence firm, confirmed Jio as the fastest mobile provider in India during the latter half of 2024, especially in 5G technology. TRAI data revealed India's wireless subscriber base reached 1,163.76 million by March 2025, rising from 1,160.33 million in February. Despite fluctuations in urban and rural subscriptions, Jio continues to solidify its market dominance.
