The incident occurred on June 14 during a routine flight outside Indian airspace. The jet, operating from the UK aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, encountered a technical fault and was diverted to the Indian airport, pre-designated as an emergency recovery site.

Despite the safe execution of the emergency landing, the underlying hydraulic system problem has yet to be resolved, keeping the aircraft stationed at the airport for a third consecutive day. After the landing, technicians from the carrier arrived promptly to begin inspection and repairs, with the assistance of local support.

Six technicians have since returned to the ship, while three personnel, including the pilot, remain on-site to oversee the rectification efforts. Efforts are also supported by the Indian Air Force, which tracked and cleared the jet for landing through its radar network. Local measures include accommodation and meals provided by Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Ltd, as well as ground handling services requested by the Royal Navy.
