Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to inaugurate the Gorakhpur Link Expressway on Friday, an infrastructural milestone for road connectivity in eastern Uttar Pradesh. According to an official statement, ceremonies will be conducted at both terminus points—Salarpur in Azamgarh and Bhagwanpur toll plaza near Gorakhpur.
The expressway spans 91.35 kilometers, connecting Jaitpur near NH-27 in Gorakhpur to Salarpur in Azamgarh, subsequently linking to the Purvanchal Expressway. Designed as a four-lane, access-controlled route with a future scope for six lanes, the project has been executed in two phases with an overall expenditure of Rs 7,283.28 crore.
Local residents hail it as a development gateway, reducing Gorakhpur-Urwa travel from one hour to just 20-25 minutes. Additionally, the enhanced route offers faster journey times to Lucknow, Delhi, and Agra. The inauguration will also feature the inspection of a newly constructed bridge, safety fleet dispatch, and a symbolic tree-planting by Adityanath.
