The incident occurred shortly after the train departed from the Sambalpur city station, running at a very slow speed, ensuring no injuries were reported, according to East Coast Railway.

Railway authorities confirmed that there was no loss of life or property. A quick response from railway officials and local police led to the safe transfer of passengers to another coach. Eyewitnesses stated that the slow speed of the train played a crucial role in averting a more serious accident.

The derailment involved the rear trolley of a general coach next to the guard van. Operations for the Shalimar-Sambalpur Express moved forward, resuming its journey without injuries. Railway officials, including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), arrived promptly to manage the situation and initiate the restoration of regular traffic.
