Union Minister L Murugan announced on Sunday that 38 trains across Tamil Nadu will have additional stoppages starting on August 18. This decision comes as a response to public demand, and it was sanctioned by the central authorities following discussions with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The Centre has allocated approximately Rs 10 lakh crore in the last decade for various social welfare schemes and infrastructure development in Tamil Nadu. This includes modernizing highways, airports, and ports. The government has also set Rs 6,626 crore aside for railway projects in the state in the 2025-26 period.

Under the Amrit Bharat Railway Stations Scheme, 77 railway stations in Tamil Nadu are being upgraded with an investment of Rs 2,948 crore. Work is underway to lay new tracks, add new lines, and redevelop major stations, further bolstering the state's transport infrastructure.
