Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta group firm, is set to launch its Rs 1,700 crore fertilizer plant in Rajasthan by December next year, aiming to cut India's dependence on imported fertilizers.
CEO Arun Misra announced the plans during the FT Live Energy Transition Summit India, revealing a phased approach starting with a phosphoric acid plant, followed by DAP and NPK production, to meet the agricultural demands of local farmers.
In a related financial update, Hindustan Zinc reported a decline in net profit for Q1 FY26, attributing the reduction to lowered revenue figures.
