Major Price Slash in FMCG: P&G, Emami, and HUL Pass GST Reductions to Consumers
Leading FMCG companies like P&G, Emami, and HUL announce price cuts on products such as soaps, shampoos, and toothpaste following GST reductions. Effective September 22, prices are lowered as a part of the government's measure to boost consumer spending, with new GST slabs set at 5% and 18%.

Leading Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies including Procter & Gamble, Emami, and Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) have announced significant price cuts across their product ranges. This move aligns with recent amendments to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), effective September 22, aimed at alleviating consumer costs.
Procter & Gamble has notably slashed prices across its major product lines, including renowned brands such as Vicks, Head & Shoulders, and Pampers. This wave of reductions follows a GST cut from 12% to 5% for several items, and from 18% to 5% for others. Similarly, Emami and HUL are implementing price adjustments across diverse product categories, following the lower 5% GST slab.
The GST Council's decision to simplify and reduce tax slabs is a strategic move to enhance consumer spending, deliberately dropping items like shampoos, soaps, and essential household products into a more consumer-friendly tax bracket. Such initiatives are anticipated to catalyze increased market activity and economic growth.
