Munich Airport faced significant disruption late Thursday following a series of drone sightings in the vicinity, according to airport officials.
Flights were initially restricted and subsequently halted shortly after 10 pm, affecting nearly 3,000 passengers as 17 flights were unable to take off and 15 arriving flights had to be diverted to other airports in Germany and Austria, airport authorities reported.
The incident adds to a growing list of drone sightings over critical infrastructure sites across Europe, with authorities expressing concerns about potential Russian involvement. Moscow, however, has denied any connection to recent drone activities in the region.
