Karnataka to Boost Investment Approvals Amid Delays Clampdown

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a stern warning against officials responsible for holding up investment approvals, citing random court orders as an unwarranted excuse.

He underscored the necessity to accelerate the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to foster a more robust investment environment in the state. Siddaramaiah also pointed out that delays should not stem from citing issues supposedly unique to Karnataka, noting that similar court orders exist in neighboring states. He emphasized the importance of amending procedures to expedite clearances, particularly in departments like the pollution control board and the fire department.

The Chief Minister highlighted Karnataka's impressive Rs 10.27 lakh crore investment during the Global Investors' Meet, with over half in the execution phase, yet facing bureaucratic hurdles.

Minister Priyank Kharge echoed the call for expedited approvals, stressing employment generation through increased capital investment. Kharge also compared SEZs, noting Tamil Nadu's higher number but aligning Karnataka's economic impact closely. The ministers aim to enhance the investment landscape, ensuring timely project implementation.
