Ford Revitalizes Chennai Plant with Massive Investment

Ford, the renowned American automaker, has declared its intention to pour Rs 3,250 crore into its Chennai plant. This investment is aimed at manufacturing new-generation engines, and it signals Ford's strong interest in leveraging India's robust manufacturing capabilities.
According to the memorandum of understanding signed with the Tamil Nadu government, the plant is set to reach an annual capacity of 2.35 lakh engines, with the production phase anticipated to commence by 2029. This initiative is expected to generate over 600 jobs directly and numerous indirect employment opportunities within the industry.
Jeff Marentic, President of Ford Motor Company's International Markets Group, expressed his enthusiasm, stating that this decision highlights Ford's commitment to India. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T R B Rajaa believes this will invigorate the state's automotive sector.
