Pony.ai Pioneers Driverless Robotaxi Revolution in Shenzhen

Pony.ai, alongside Xihu Group, receives Shenzhen's first citywide permit for commercial driverless robotaxis. The operations will launch in Nanshan, Qianhai, and Baoan areas, with plans for citywide expansion.

In a groundbreaking development, Chinese autonomous driving company Pony.ai has received the first citywide permit for driverless commercial robotaxi operations in Shenzhen, a progressive city in southern China. This was announced on Friday.

The permit represents a significant step forward in the adoption of autonomous vehicles and was granted in collaboration with Shenzhen's largest taxi operator, Xihu Group, according to the company’s statement.

The initial phase of driverless operations will commence in the Nanshan, Qianhai, and Baoan districts, with future plans for expansion across the entire city, Pony.ai confirmed.
